MARSHALLS YARD

The first part of the £37 million retail and leisure park development of the old Marshall's complex (Marshall's Yard) is now open.

This huge development project consists of 100,000 square feet of new retail space, 4,000 square feet of restaurant and 7,000 square feet of office space. 305 new car parking spaces have been created. The majority of the space now seems to have been let.

The appearance of the complex - bearing in mind that much building work is still going on - is impressive. From the roadside the facade of Marshalls has been faithfully replicated, with the statue of Britannia restored and back in place.

Horse and cart rides are available from Marshalls Yard, taking the visitor around town (weekends only).

On going into the complex, the first impression is of size - it appears much larger than it looks from the roadside.

We took these photos on 15th April 2007. The remainder of the units/offices are due to open in Summer 2007.
